X10

This is a e-mail I received from a pro after asking about X 10 equipment.. short of it is X10 sucks and lies to you at every turn.

I am sorry to tell you but X10 is not just a plug and play product although the sure pitch their products that way. They forget to tell you that you will need a coupling device installed in your electrical panel (Supplied by X10PRO, Leviton, Smarthome, and ACT) to connect all the device together similar to a network. Homes under 3000 square foot use a passive coupler (50.00 retail) and larger homes require amplified couplers (130 retail). All EMI/RFI noise suppressed power strips will have to be removed and filters will have to be installed on all dirty powered electronics TV's, Computers, Low Voltage Lighting, Fluorescent ballast's, and so forth.

The Professional ActiveHome Computer software is still a Beta product and conflicts heavily with other software applications including their own so a dedicated computer with just windows XP is recommended for reliability. I also recommend the older CM11a computer module and an outside software such as Homeseer or HAL. They are established products with a good track record of reliability.

As far as the Wireless products they have to except any and all communication interference signals within the 2.4 GHz frequency by their FCC certification which means no 802.11 a, b, or g within 500 feet and definitely no 2.4 GHz cordless phone within 200ft.
In a nut shell Wireless camera's are toys wired camera's work.

Pricing for a Home Automation System and CCTV system is not an off the shelf project you purchase and plug in. The systems needs to be designed and planned out or what you will get is a bunch of electronic junk which most people figure out about 2 days after X10's return policy.

The INTP Virgo

I am a Virgo which is pretty damn cool, however I am also an INTP which is also cool (I think) but it means that I am unstable and weird sometimes.. well most of the time. It’s a powerful arrangement when I am in control of everything, but if (When) I am not, it gets weird. You should read about it.

Introverted iNtuitive Thinking Perceiving (INTP)
INTPs are pensive, analytical folks. They may venture so deeply into thought as to seem detached, and often actually are oblivious to the world around them.

A major concern for INTPs is the haunting sense of impending failure. They spend considerable time second-guessing themselves. The open-endedness (from Perceiving) conjoined with the need for competence (NT) is expressed in a sense that one's conclusion may well be met by an equally plausible alternative solution, and that, after all, one may very well have overlooked some critical bit of data.

INTPs live in the world of theoretical possibilities. They see everything in terms of how it could be improved, or what it could be turned into. They live primarily inside their own minds, having the ability to analyze difficult problems, identify patterns, and come up with logical explanations. They seek clarity in everything, and are therefore driven to build knowledge. They are the "absent-minded professors", who highly value intelligence and the ability to apply logic to theories to find solutions. They typically are so strongly driven to turn problems into logical explanations, that they live much of their lives within their own heads, and may not place as much importance or value on the external world. Their natural drive to turn theories into concrete understanding may turn into a feeling of personal responsibility to solve theoretical problems, and help society move towards a higher understanding.

The INTP has no understanding or value for decisions made on the basis of personal subjectivity or feelings. They strive constantly to achieve logical conclusions to problems, and don't understand the importance or relevance of applying subjective emotional considerations to decisions. For this reason, INTPs are usually not in-tune with how people are feeling, and are not naturally well-equiped to meet the emotional needs of others.

About to balance check book?

The last task for tonight is going through receipts and taking account of my debt… it’s a scary process, so if I seem stressed or on edge in the next few days you know why.

I have always, up to this point invested my good credit in making memories and the people I love. The return monetarily is nil mostly up to this point, but I feel really rich and thankful that I have had it to work with. My dad got me my first credit card at 18. I only used it for gas and paid it off every month. He gave me the opportunity to succeed or fail at an early age and I have benefited from it for many years. The amazing thing is he never paid it for me; he just facilitated it so that I could build it myself. That was a good move dad, thanks!

Call from NZ

My good friend, YWAM buddy and fellow hitchhiker adventurer called me tonight from New Zealand. We hadn’t spoken for years. We e-mail once in a while but it was cool to hear his voice and catch up. I miss my short life in NZ and friends there. I was SOOO tempted last month to put a ticket on my credit card and just go….but my conscious set in and I listened…. Its not that money is tight… I passed that point months ago; it’s that credit space is tight. My currency is debt. Manage it well and you will prevail, go too far and you will be screwed. I am prevailing still barely. Again the edge is near.

Time line from my bestest friend

As I was organizing today and listening to U2 I ran across a time line of my past few years. My best friend is an incredible record keeping, timeline making, chart and graph addict. She keeps tabs on life well in paper form. She has helped me realize how hectic I really am through showing me on paper. I guess I really don’t realize how stretched thin I am/have been till I can analyze the data on paper. She rocks.

Handy man to fix it all

I had a handyman come look at my garage/basement project yesterday when I realized I was way out of my league as far as a time table. I hope he comes back with a reasonable quote. His card has this quote on it. “We repair what your Husband fixed!”

Day of working and organizing for pre-emptive melt down

I slept in late today, woke up a ton of times to calls and alarms but for the first time in a long time I aloud my depression sleep to over rule my mind. I needed it so it’s healthy enough. I spent the rest of the day trying to organize my mess a little so that when school starts in the 7th I don’t feel totally overwhelmed…. I feel the edge creeping up on me.

Big 26th last night. Was a small intimate group drinking and celebrating life. Drank this great raspberry beer for the first time and had a fake car bomb. All in all it was a good time. I need to defiantly write off the tab though… I am sure I talked business at some point!?

MagicForMarigold

I am happy my chick friend of many years has started her own blog. She is cool and I enjoyed her plane Jane quotes today. She can always make me smile with her thought patterns.

"Poor Jane, always gets a bad rap for being not especially remarkable. I bet there are plenty of exceptional Janes out there.

However, I was feeling very plain Jane, and then I realized that I am wearing Rainbow Undies. That made the whole day bright and wonderful!"

The "love bomb" was an "aphrodisiac" chemical that would provoke widespread homosexual behaviour among troops

The US military investigated building a "gay bomb", which would make enemy soldiers "sexually irresistible" to each other, government papers say.

The so-called "love bomb" was an "aphrodisiac" chemical that would provoke widespread homosexual behaviour among troops, causing what the military called a "distasteful but completely non-lethal" blow to morale.

Scientists also reportedly considered a "sting me/attack me" chemical weapon to attract swarms of enraged wasps or angry rats towards enemy troops.

BBC

That’s great and all but what about when we have to fight an army of GAY people?.... it would just make them stronger!! Or what if there was a back fire J

What about fratricide, what about chemical plant leaks in the US? Would they be forced to make this chemical in San Francisco just to be on the safe side? If your already gay, does this chemical make you UNGAY?

Seriously people, who comes up with this?

LIMP BIZKIT STYLE

When i reminisce ignorance was bliss,
Back in the days where the magic exist
Never be the same as it was, 'cuz the way it was
Just another day in the maze of a myth
Had a lot of fun living life on the run,
Never had a chance to pause to get a better glance
Everything was free and everything was fast
Never even thought it wouldn't last
When you go the mind of a man in the middle
Life is just a big fat riddle, so figure it out
Always thinking that you know
Everything little thing there is to know
But you don't really know, ya know?

It's like love, some people get it
For some it's just a glove that just never fitted
For me it's just a pain in the ass
But i'm addicted to the taste of hopin' it could last

Pakistan troops guard gas field

There have been rocket attacks and clashes for daysPakistan has deployed troops at its largest natural gas field after days of clashes with tribal militants left at least eight people dead.

The main plant at the Sui complex in Balochistan province is shut. Sui provides about 60% of Pakistan's gas.

There are about 6,500 paramilitary personnel stationed at Sui, backed by some 1,500 regular troops and 750 personnel from the Defence Security Guards.

Tribesmen say they fear a massive operation against them.
"They [army and paramilitary forces] have thrown a ring around us," tribal chief Nawab Akbar Bugti told the BBC News website.

Locals in Balochistan say they face a situation of near war in the province. Rocket attacks against gas facilities are a regular occurrence.

There have been more than 30 bomb attacks in Quetta alone in the last year. The most deadly, last December, killed at least 11 people and wounded more than 30 others.

A group calling itself the Balochistan Liberation Army said it carried out the bombing in its fight against what it sees as the dominating influence of Punjabis on local political life.

“They have already had the sex. All they need now is the love. “

BBC article about the US porn industry, sad, crazy…or maybe just life

Bosnian style party strength and the drama of a good Bollywood film.

The condo New Years Eve party was a total success in my view. It had Bosnian style party strength and the drama of a good Bollywood film.

The real sign that the party was a success was not only the amount of garbage we generated that was left all over the house, driveway and decks, its was not the fact that every Persian carpet I own ha some form of alcohol spilled on it, or that the wood floors where to sticky to walk on the next day. It wasn’t even that one brave man drank the majority of the Absinth and Bosnia moonshine then spent the next four hours hugging the toilet and spewing blood.

The real sign of party success was that no one realized it was the New Year when midnight came around. We counted down to the New Year between 3 and 5 minuets late!

Thanks to all of you who drove for hours to be there, and to you locals for showing up and being yourselves.

The condo is now clean and all of my guests are gone. I need to get some sleep soon.

PS As the host of the party I make the rules… so I am setting this rule in retrospect. Reality starts over every 12 hours. This is the good old rule we used during my days in Bosnia. In other words, no matter what anyone said or did, or what events took place, all is forgiven or at least forgotten after 12 hours. I found this to be a very useful rule, in that you usually have time to party, sleep and have an hour or two to spare to talk about anything that needed to be spoken of before the 12 hours was up.

As this rule is being explained only just now we will give it 12 more hours starting now. You have until 10PM 02 Jan 2005 until reality starts over.

Try this rule at your next party, its fun…. It’s kinda like being catholic but without all the trouble of getting into a little box with some other dude.

burden of lost digital photos

I am so angry.. I lost the photos of this entire week with my Bosnian friends… I had some awesome ones! MAN I HATE THAT. I have never done it before, and it hurts. I am carrying the burden of lost digital photos around with me today.
